On Wednesday, you can meet Howard Dean

Hello,

"There are no red states or blue states, just American states. And if we can compete at all levels and in the most conservative parts of the country, we can win . . . at any level and anywhere. People will vote for Democratic candidates in Texas, and Alabama, and Utah if we knock on their door, introduce ourselves, and tell them what we believe."

Dean

That was Governor Howard Dean on December 8, 2004, announcing his "50 State Strategy" -- the foundation of his campaign to become Chair of the Democratic National Committee and move America in a new direction.

It didn't take long for Dean's vision to be realized right here in California. On November 7, 2006, Jerry McNerney shocked political pundits across the country by defeating seven-term incumbent Richard Pombo in a predominantly Republican congressional district.

If you believe that Jerry McNerney's victory was a model for what people-powered Democrats can do across the country, please join many of your fellow McNerney supporters and other proud Democrats in welcoming Governor Dean to the Bay Area on Wednesday:

Governor Dean was one of the first leaders to personally call Congressman-elect McNerney to congratulate him after his historic victory. As is now legend, McNerney was the only challenger to defeat an incumbent in California and the only challenger in the country to defeat a sitting chair of a House Committee.

Dean called Jerry to tell him how excited he was about the example the McNerney campaign set by mobilizing thousands of supporters to knock on tens of thousands of doors across the 11th Congressional District, a district many pundits and power-brokers argued could not be won by a Democrat.

On Wednesday, you can meet the man who inspired many McNerney volunteers to get involved in electoral politics for the first time. To see Howard Dean talk about the state of the Democratic Party as well as the state of our nation and the world, please RSVP by clicking here:

Taking back Congress in 2006 was only the first step. By coming to this special event on Wednesday, you will help the DNC implement its ongoing national plan to put organizers on the ground in every precinct in all 50 states so we can expand our congressional majority and bring new leadership to the White House.

Your attendance at this important event will also make it possible to organize national canvassing days like the "Neighbor-to-Neighbor National Organizing Day" in April, the "Democratic Reunion" in July and "The 50-State Turnout" last October.

Join us this Wednesday so that, as Howard Dean says, "election by election, state by state, precinct by precinct, door by door, vote by vote . . . (we can) lift our Party up and take this country back for the people who built it."
